About Hafan

Originally the old sea captain's house, dating back to the early 1900s, this substantial property is situated on the outskirts of Trefin within walking distance of Aberfelin bay and the famous Pembrokeshire Coastal Path.

Hafan is light and airy and is comfortably furnished with many facilities for families and walkers alike. The raised rear garden* with its large decked area which provides superb sea views, is secluded and is a lovely suntrap for those warm summer evening barbecues, while the open fires and central heating make the house an ideal property for all seasons.

If you do not feel like cooking then The Ship Inn is only a short walk from the front door. In nearby Square & Compass you will find a petrol station with convenience store for your groceries.

*The garden is enclosed, but there is a drop of about 4ft from the lawn down to the path - please take care with children etc*

Sam and Family

We stayed this week at Hafan in Trefin and had a wonderful time, the house is outstanding . Very thoughtful touches by the owners and a great info book. The welsh cakes didn't last long! We had cooked breakfast in the sun in the garden watched by the cows . Great walks from the doorstep onto the coast oath, the dog had many adventures and was wet all week. And I agree with everyone else , the Welsh breakfast at the Mill cafe is essential . Spotlessly clean and warm , the house was perfect and would highly recommend . Thanks , Sam (12/3/18)

This was a return visit one year on and the cottage and holiday didn't disappoint. Weather much better than last year. Ramsey was well worth the visit - recommend to all interested in wildlife

Alan and Anne

Excellent facilities, very comfortable. Lovely area, hope to return.

Emma, Lucy and Susie

We have really enjoyed our time here in hafan. It is a lovely, cosy, warm yet spacious house and so well equipped.

Henrottin Party

We had a fantastic time in Trefin. The cottage is perfectly situated and very well equipped. It was our first time in Wales and we'll certainly be back! There are very nice walks nearby. Our dog was in paradise. We really enjoyed having breakfast (and tea) at the Mill just across the street. For the best fish and chips head to the Shed in Porthgain (1.5 miles away) We booked a coasteering tour with TYF in St Davids and had a very good time. We recommend it.

Sandy and Les

Again a lovely holiday. The house is so comfortable. lovely food in the Ship pub down the road and great walks. We just love staying herem its so easy with the dogs. We love the pictures in the bedrooms - lovely touch. Although weather was a bit wet some days we still managed our walks. We will be back, Josh, Ben and Sam just know where their going when we arrive. Great Place.

Owen Thoms Troops

7th time here - excellent as usual brought extra knees and folks -5 of us and we like to cook! Very few mackeel around - but caught a few and a good pollock.

The White Party

Had a fabulous 5 days - weather beautiful, cosy house and wonderful coastal paths. This is our 3rd visit to Hafan and won't be the last! We did a very strenuous walk from Trefasser to Strumble Head and back (circular route) - rugged paths and definitely not for the faint hearted or dodgy knees!!

The Rallisons Party

It's such a pleasure to return from long walks to such a welcoming house. The cupboards are very well equipped and the raised decking is lovely for watching the sunset over diner. Enjoyed fab walks or runs for the more athletic/insane among us) from Strumble Head to Trefin, Trefin to Abercastle and around St Davids Head and Dinas Head. St Davids Catherdral is worth a look, or for atmosphere and splendour of an altogether different kind,, Treath Llyn beach, set at the base of the cliffs is magnificent for those who can climb the steps. Had an excellent meal at the Farmers Arms in Mathry and the Welsh Breakfast at the Mill Cafe was fantastic. Tracked down the Dyffryn Arms in Pontfaen where Bessie serves you beer out of a jug through a hatch and the pub area is fashioned from her front room - a real time capsule of a pub with a wonderful middle of nowhere feel.

The Harversons Party

This is our third time in Wales and still as great as always. This is a fab cottage very comfortable, warm, relaxing and everything you need, the only problem was that a week was not long enough. The Mill cafe is amazing choose anything from the menu - you won't be disappointed. The sloop is a great place to eat, but sadly no dogs inside. We booked very late in the year because of family commitments, but really pleased we did. Its a fantastic cottage and we will be back.

Claire and Keith

This was our second stay at Hafan and we have really enjoyed our holiday. We have had a real mix of weather - hot sun to enjoy the garden, plus wild windy and wet weather which made for some fun coastal walks. A very relaxing cottage and we hope to visit again. Thanks.

Pauline and Doug

Enjoyed a week of excelent weather (except for Bank holiday Monday) Once again, Cambrian Inn Solva served excellent food - steadily working our way through the menu! Fish and Chips at Letterston were good too. Mill Cafe - friendly service and great value - they really need to be charging more. We had a mixture of walking, dossing and eating which made for a great holiday.

Steve and Viv

A lovely week spent in this delightful haven of peace and tranquility. We're here for the sixth year runnnig - getting old and stuck in our ways? Maybe but we have found Hafan to be an excellent cottage and really appreciate the devotion the owenrs have for the place. Brilliant decking and new decor in the main bedroom - nice picture too. We had mixed weather but mainly dry - enabling us to acheive all the usual walks and visits. Farmers Arms in Mathry now very good for food but the "Shed" is still the best. Had a raucous evening over at the Ship with a live band - great fun. James (mill Cafe) now in his 3rd year is doing very well. 26 in for breakfast on Sunday! Excellent cream teas and and WiFi too.

Gently and Bessant Family

Very well equipped cottage, excellent for dogs and humans. Would recommend the Farmers Arms Mathry, good food and dog friendly.

Dave and Jean

Very enjoyable mini-break here at Hafan for Jeans birthday. Weather cold but sunny till last day! We have had many visits to Pembrokeshire, first visit to Hafan and very impressed with cleanliness of house - very well equipped too. Can recommend Hilton Court in Roch for cosy lunch and arts and crafts to buy. Harbour Inn at Solva very good and lovely walk on sand when tide out. St Davids so peaceful. Thank you for sharing your house.

Pauline and Doug

We have enjoyed an excellent short break in Hafan. The house feels like a home rather than a holiday cottage although the weather wasn't kind enough for us to appreciate the rather splendid decking and outdoor seating. Maybe another time. We must concur with everyne on the standard of the cream teas (and friendly service) at the Mill cafe - ummm and had a wonderful evening meal at the Cambrian Inn, Solva (need to book). A special mention for whoever is responsible for keeping Hafan so clean and tidy - certainly one of the best self catering properties we have stayed in from this respect.
